Celso Brandão was born in Maceió, Alagoas, in 1951. He is being dedicated to photograph and cinema for more than five decades. Currently, counting more the fifty ethnographic documentaries and having participated in many photographic exhibitions and publications in Brazil, Germany, England, Italy and France among them, are highlighted: Argueiro, um cisco no olho (Galeria Fotóptica, São Paulo, 1993), Canudos (Instituto Moreira Salles, Rio de Janeiro, 2002), Memento (Casa da Aposentadoria, Penedo, 2013/IPHAN, Maceió, 2014) Canto Oculto (CAIITE, Centro de Convenções/Pinacoteca Universitária - UFAL, 2015), Boîte noire (Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, France, 2016). Especially dedicated to black and white photograph, his work presents a poetical look on subjects linked to life, day-to-day and, above all, to cultural manifestations from the Northeast. He issued the photograph book Memento (2013), by Imprensa Oficial Graciliano Ramos, and carried out exhibition of the same title as artist honoured by the III Festival of Cinema University of Alagoas (UFAL, Penedo, 2013) e, later, in Casa do Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan, Maceió, 2014). He has a bachelor´s degree in Visual Communication by Universidade Federal de Pernambuco and he is specialist in Photograph as Instrument of Research in Social Sciences by Universidade Candido Mendes, he was photograph professor in Architecture and Social Communication courses of Universidade Federal de Alagoas through thirty years.
